Moon-young & Kang-tae: "You!"
Moon-young & Kang-tae: "You!"

In this heartfelt portrait titled "You," I drew inspiration from a poignant scene in episode 3 of "It's Okay to Not Be Okay," aptly named "Sleeping Witch." It's a moment that left a deep impression on me as an artist, and I sought to capture its emotional essence on canvas.

He asks if she knows him, and she simply says she’d like to get to know him better. Unamused, he then asks what she wants, knowing she’ll only leave once she gets it. She smiles and answers that she wants him.

In this piece, I sought to capture the moment when Moon-young and Kang-tae, portrayed by Seo Yea-ji and Kim Soo-hyun, reunite at OK Hospital. The raw emotions depicted on their faces showcase the intricacies of their relationship, drawing viewers into a world of feelings and desires.

As the story unfolds, Moon-young stands closer to Kang-tae than he seems comfortable with, expressing her admiration for his growth. Their conversation subtly reveals the depths of her feelings and the haunting quality of her personality archetype. Moon-young's unwavering determination to achieve her desires, regardless of societal norms, is a fascinating facet of her character, making her both intriguing and enigmatic.

With each brushstroke, I endeavored to convey the delicate balance between attraction and tension, reflecting the underlying chemistry between the characters. The choice of colors and composition aims to evoke a sense of intimacy and vulnerability, inviting viewers to explore the complexity of their relationship.

This painting is a humble attempt to capture the essence of the characters and the scene, without claiming any extraordinary mastery. It is an exploration of human emotions and the flaws that make us human. Through this work, I hope to convey a genuine sense of admiration for the performances of Seo Yea-ji and Kim Soo-hyun, whose portrayals brought these characters to life in a way that deeply resonated with me as an artist.

Thank you for taking the time to experience my painting, "You." I hope it sparks a connection within you, allowing you to reflect on the intricacies of human emotions and the captivating power of art to convey meaningful stories.
