I humbly present to you a sketch inspired by a pivotal scene from the second episode of the gripping series "Doom at Your Service." In this artwork, I have endeavored to capture the profound dilemma faced by Tak Dong-kyung, portrayed by the talented Park Bo-young.
Tak Dong-kyung, an ordinary editor working for a web novel company, unexpectedly finds herself entangled in a chain of life-altering events. Within a single day, her world is turned upside down as she learns of her imminent battle with glioblastoma, discovers her boyfriend's hidden life as a husband and expectant father, endures the rebukes of her superiors at work, and even encounters the unsettling presence of a voyeur. The culmination of these experiences leads her to a fateful moment.
In an attempt to drown her sorrows, Tak Dong-kyung gazes from the rooftop of her apartment and serendipitously witnesses a shooting star streak across the sky. In her inebriated state, she unwittingly utters a wish for the world to face its doom. Little does she know that her wish resonates with Myul Mang, portrayed by the enigmatic Seo In-guk, a messenger who traverses the realms between gods and humans. Myul Mang exists between the realms of darkness and light, his every breath capable of toppling nations, his every step disrupting the harmony of seasons, and his mere smile extinguishing life itself. Yet, this power is not of his choosing, but rather a cruel twist of fate.
On his birthday, Myul Mang has the ability to fulfill a human's wish, and weary of his predetermined existence, he elects to fulfill Tak Dong-kyung's desire for the world's demise. As a result, Dong-kyung embarks on a perilous journey, daringly signing a hundred-day contract with Myul Mang, thereby jeopardizing everything she holds dear.
In this evocative sketch, I have sought to capture the essence of this pivotal moment in Tak Dong-kyung's life. I have endeavored to depict her contemplative expression, as she stands at the crossroads of her own mortality and an enigmatic pact. The weight of her decision is palpable, as she contemplates the unimaginable choice between her own life and the fulfillment of her wish.
