This painting of the character Minali (미나리), meaning buttercup, is inspired by the Mythical Beings from Middle Earth. In this world, Minali is the daughter of a mortal woman and an Elf King, who died when she was young. She has lived her whole life in the woodland realm of Middle Earth, but she has always wanted to see the world beyond. Her father's brother, a Dark Lord, took control of the land when her father died. Minali wants to raise an army and fight her uncle and free her people.

The Character

This character is strongly inspired by South Korean singer and actress Kim Jisoo (김지수), who is known for her beautiful skin, long silky hair, and striking facial features. She reminds me of an elven queen or princess with her strong facial features that evoke an otherworldly look. Her creamy skin tone would be appropriate for portraying an elf's fair complexion, especially when contrasted with dark hair and dark eyes.

Painting style

This painting is a mixed media composite with an acrylic background that gives a nice contrast to the smoother airbrushed face. Strong use of pencil hatching on the hair gives it life and a sense of movement, making it look more realistic. Air brushing and texture shading on the face allows for more detail, as well as letting pencil sketch elements bleed through to give added depth and definition.
