Bak Mee - Beauty

Bak Mee, meaning beauty, is inspired by the Mythical Beings from Middle Earth. In this world, she would be an elf who lives in a woodland realm. Her skin is soft like milk and has a pearly-white tone. There is a war raging in Middle Earth, and Bak Mee is inspired by the sounds of battle. She begins to sing, and her voice soothes those who hear it.

The character

This character while not a true 100% likeness is strongly inspired by the South Korean singer and actress Kim Jisoo (김지수) who is known for her beautiful skin, long silky hair, and striking facial features.. She reminds me of an elven princess or queen and has that regal look. She has long dark hair and her eyes seem like they could be looking at you from different dimensions. Her skin tone is creamy or milk like, and this would work to show how fair the elves are in the movie Lord of the Rings. The shape of her face, chin and high cheek bones makes her seem like she's from another world, which is what I wanted for my painting. I want the viewer to feel like they're transported to another world as if they are in Middle Earth when they take a look at my painting. I've chosen this style of clothing because it fits with the theme of the movie Lord of the Rings and you could probably imagine Galadriel or Arwen wearing something similar . I also like the way Kim Jisoo might look in this outfit as I feel she could easily carry this type of look off, it makes her already fair skin tone look even lighter.

Painting style

The painting style in this piece is a mixed media textured abstract with an acrylic background that gives a complimentary contrast to the smoother airbrushed face. The hair has been brushed and layered, making it look more realistic. The gilding elements have been created from crumpled foil textures drawn into random shapes to give them added depth. Air brushing and texture shading on the face allows for more detail, as well as letting pencil sketch elements bleed through to give added depth and definition.
